Boral Shingle Repair: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Boral shingle repair in Dallas typically runs $380 – $650 installed for a small section of 8 – 12 shingles, and $850 – $1,400 when the repair extends to underlayment or decking around a leak. We stock Boral-compatible ridge caps, hip caps, and field shingle profiles on our Dallas trucks, and most jobs are complete in a single visit. Homeowners usually discover a Boral shingle problem the hard way: a brown ceiling stain after a spring storm, pieces of shingle in the gutters after a wind event, or a roofer pointing out impact damage during a routine inspection.
We service Boral repairs across the Dallas area, from Lakewood to Richardson, Garland to Duncanville. And we’ll give you the price before we touch it. That’s just how a roof conversation ought to start.
Tilehurst Roofing Dallas is an independent roofing contractor. We are not affiliated with Boral, nor are we a Boral-owned installer. What we are is a Dallas roofing company that genuinely understands how Boral’s stone-coated steel and concrete tile shingles behave in Texas weather, what fails first, and how to match the replacement so it looks like nothing ever happened.
Which Boral Models This Applies To
Boral sells a lot of product under the “shingle” umbrella, and they aren’t all the same animal. The three lines we see most often on Dallas homes are Boral Inspire Stone-Coated Steel, Boral Saxony Slate (concrete tile), and the older Boral CedarLite concrete shingle line, which Boral no longer manufactures but still turns up on roofs built between roughly 1998 and 2010.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most Dallas homeowners don’t know: Boral Inspire shingles are not matched by profile alone. Each panel has a nose-to-groove lock pattern that changed between early and current production runs, and the color codes differ by batch. If you buy a “Chestnut Brown” Inspire shingle from one supplier and a “Chestnut Brown” Inspire from another, the panels may not interlock cleanly and the finish may not match. We’ve seen this happen. It’s why we identify the shingle by measuring the panel dimensions and reading the stamp on the underside, not by trusting the color name on a receipt.
For the concrete lines, the decision is usually OEM versus quality aftermarket. Boral still makes Saxony Slate, so OEM is almost always the right call there. For CedarLite, which is discontinued, we use a matched concrete profile from a select aftermarket manufacturer and order the color to blend. Greg Holloway walks every Dallas roof himself before quoting, because the difference between a repair that disappears and a repair that looks like a patch comes down to three measurements and reading the underside of the existing shingle.
We also stock parts for GAF, Owens Corning, and CertainTeed shingles, so if we get on the roof and find a mixed install or a prior patch from a different brand, we aren’t driving back to the yard to grab the right material.

Signs Your Boral Shingle Repair Is Failing
Boral shingles don’t fail quietly. Here are the symptoms Dallas owners call us about, in rough order of frequency:
- Shingle debris in the gutters or at the downspout elbows. On coated-steel Boral panels, this usually means wind got under a panel edge and worked the fastener loose. On concrete, it often means freeze-thaw cycling around the screw holes has cracked a corner off. Either way, the exposed underlap is now the only thing between your roof deck and the next storm.
- A ceiling stain that appears 24 – 48 hours after rain, not during it. That delay is a classic Boral concrete shingle signature. The shingle cracks, water moves slowly through the underlayment, and it reaches the drywall a day or two later. Dallas homeowners sometimes write this off as “just an old stain” until it grows.
- Visible cracking at the nose of concrete shingles. Texas heat expands the shingle, and the shaded, older underlayment underneath doesn’t expand at the same rate. Over time, the nose of the shingle develops a hairline crack. It’s invisible from the ground and obvious from the ridge.
- Rust streaking below a coated-steel shingle. This means the edge of the panel has lost its stone coating, usually from repeated impact or a bent panel from foot traffic. Left alone, the steel substrate will corrode through in three to five Texas wet seasons.
- You can see the metal nose of a shingle from the daylight side. On Inspire panels, the leading edge should be fully covered with stone granules. When the stone wears off, the panel nose reflects light, and water can channel underneath the panel above it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Dallas Boral shingle repair, you should plan on these installed price ranges:
- Small isolated repair (6 – 10 shingles or panels): $380 – $650
- Repair with underlayment replacement (leak path found): $650 – $1,000
- Section rebuild with decking repair (rotten wood under the leak): $1,100 – $1,400
What drives the range? The material line, for one: Inspire coated-steel costs more per panel than concrete. The pitch of the roof and the height off the ground, for another. And the age of the roof. A 12-year-old Boral roof often has brittle underlayment around the repair area, and we won’t lay new shingles over compromised felt. We’ll show you what we found and the written price reflects the actual condition, not a guess.
Every Boral shingle repair from Tilehurst Roofing Dallas includes the written price before any work starts, a written guarantee delivered before our crew leaves, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair fails inside that year, we come back and correct it at no charge. That’s the Kingswell Way: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it, put the guarantee in writing, and come back if it fails.
DIY or Call Us?
For a Boral concrete or coated-steel shingle, here’s our honest split: you can safely inspect your own roof from a ladder, and you can identify loose or cracked shingles from the ground with binoculars. You shouldn’t walk a Boral roof without knowing the weight tolerances of the profile, and you absolutely should not attempt a panel replacement without the right fasteners, sealant, and clip spacing for that specific Boral line. Coated-steel panels and concrete shingles are heavy, brittle at the edges, and unforgiving if you install them with the wrong underlap. We’ve repaired enough DIY patches across Dallas neighborhoods to know that a $7 tube of sealant on a Boral shingle usually becomes a $900 repair inside two years.
If you want to confirm the part number before calling, go ahead: read the stamp on the underside of a loose shingle or snap a photo with your phone from the ladder. We’ll match it from that. Then call us at (903) 499-4275 and we’ll take it from there. The estimate is free.
FAQs
Boral Inspire stone-coated steel is rated for a long service life, but the reality in Dallas is that the roof system around it, underlayment and fasteners especially, often fails before the panel does. We see Inspire roofs in Dallas that need underlayment or fastener attention at the 18 – 22 year mark. Boral concrete shingles like Saxony Slate can run 35 – 40 years in Dallas if the underlayment is replaced on schedule, but the shingle edges themselves will begin to show nose cracking after about two decades of Texas sun. Call (903) 499-4275 for an exact assessment of your roof.
You can repair one Boral shingle, but only if the damage is isolated to that shingle and the surrounding underlayment is intact. In practice, by the time a leak shows up inside a Dallas home, the failure has been active for weeks or months, and the area around the broken shingle needs attention too. We’ll quote the smallest repair that actually solves the problem, not a section replacement for the sake of a bigger ticket.
Most Boral shingle repairs on Dallas homes are complete in three to five hours, including setup, removal, deck inspection, new underlayment if needed, shingle installation, and cleanup. Larger section rebuilds with decking repair may take a full day. We’ll tell you the time window when we give you the written price.
We stock common Boral Inspire profiles and colors on our Dallas trucks, plus ridge caps and hip caps for the lines we see most often. Discontinued lines like CedarLite and uncommon color codes are special-ordered, which adds three to seven business days to the job. If you call us with the stamp information from the underside of your shingle, we can usually tell you same-day whether we have it on the truck or need to order it.
