Owens Corning Shingle Repair: The Dallas Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Owens Corning-compatible shingles for repairs across Dallas, and most small to mid-size repairs run between $325 and $850 installed, depending on how many shingles failed and what we find under them. We can usually get to a shingle repair within a few days, sometimes same-week, and we carry common Owens Corning colors and styles on our trucks so we’re not guessing at the supply house. The call usually starts the same way: someone spots a shingle in the yard after a storm, or water shows up on a ceiling below a slope they haven’t thought about in years. By the time we walk the roof, the question is rarely “is one shingle bad” and more often “how much of this slope is compromised.”

Which Owens Corning Models This Applies To

Most Dallas roofs wearing Owens Corning fall into one of three lines: the Duration series (the architectural shingle most roofs around here use), the Oakridge series (a slightly lighter architectural shingle), and on a handful of older homes, the Supreme three-tab line. The repair itself is the same concept across all three: we remove the failed shingle or shingles, check the seal strip and nail line beneath, replace what’s damaged, and re-seal the course so it holds. The compatibility gotcha on Owens Corning specifically is the color blend drift: a bundle of Duration in “Driftwood” bought in 2018 will not match a bundle of the same name bought in 2025. Shingle manufacturers adjust granule blends over time, end of story. When we repair, we carry a selection of blends and we’ll be honest if a perfect match isn’t possible: sometimes the right answer is a slight visual difference on a repair, sometimes it’s replacing the entire slope. We’ll tell you which before you pay anything.

We’re an independent roofing company, not an Owens Corning dealer or subsidiary, but we install their products regularly alongside GAF, CertainTeed, IKO, Atlas, Tamko, and Boral. That matters because we’re not trying to force you into one brand. If an Owens Corning shingle makes sense for your roof, we stock it. If a different brand would match better for less, we’ll tell you that too.

Signs Your Owens Corning Shingle Repair Is Failing

  • Shingles in the yard after wind. Owens Corning shingles carry a wind rating, but age, heat, and previous nail patterns weaken the bond. Once the seal strip lets go, the next storm drops them in the grass. This is the most common first sign in Dallas.
  • Granules in the gutters. A small amount of granule loss on a new roof is normal. A pile of granules every time you clean the gutters means the asphalt is breaking down, usually from UV exposure on a roof past its middle years.
  • Curling or lifting at the corners. Dallas summers bake shingles from above while attic heat pushes from below. When the corners curl, the shingle is losing its ability to flex and seal. It’s not repairable at that point, just replaceable.
  • A shingle that “slid” out of line. Sometimes a shingle doesn’t tear or blow off; it just migrates a few inches, leaving a nail line exposed. That exposed nail is a water entry point, even if the shingle is still hanging on.
  • Water staining on a ceiling below a slope. By the time water shows up inside, the shingle has been failing for a while. The leak is usually at a nail line, a seam, or a missing shingle, and it’s rarely isolated to the one you can see from the ground.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For Owens Corning shingle repair in Dallas, most jobs we quote land between $325 and $850. A single blown-off shingle on a simple, walkable roof runs on the lower end. A repair that involves a ridge cap, a few feet of flashing, or replacement of rotted decking under the shingles runs higher. We write the price before we start, and we don’t change it at the door. The quote includes the shingles, any underlayment or sealant needed, the labor, and disposal of the old material. Every repair also carries a written guarantee. If the repair fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and make it right at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That’s the Kingswell Way: say the price before the work, put the guarantee in writing, and return if it fails.

Call (903) 499-4275 if you want a real number on your specific slope, and we’ll walk it together.

DIY or Call Us?

We’re never going to tell you that walking a roof at 2 in the afternoon in a Dallas August is a good idea, but checking from the ground is free and useful. You can look for missing shingles, count them, and photograph them. You can check gutters for granules. You can note the slope and the side of the house. But please don’t climb up there with a bucket of tar and a putty knife. A roof is where gravity keeps its best tricks. We’ve repaired dozens of DIY patch jobs where someone sealed their own shingle down with roofing cement that hardened, cracked, and funneled water directly into the decking. If you’re on a steep slope, or it’s two stories or more, or the repair is near a valley or a wall flashing, call us. Walking the roof is part of the quote, and Greg Holloway walks almost every Dallas roof we quote himself. The number is (903) 499-4275.
